SCRIP Fund Raiser

How many times have you said to yourself, "I wish we could come up with a church fund raiser that really works? One that doesn't make me buy stuff I don't need?"

There is such a thing and it is called SCRIP, a decade-old fundraising concept that has raised thousands for non-profit organizations. The concept is simple. Crossroads Church, as a non-profit organization, is able to purchase gift cards/certificates, or "SCRIP", from popular retailers (like Papa John's Pizza, Scott's Super Store, etc.), at a discount.

The retailers are happy to give this discount because they're guaranteeing themselves customers and some goodwill advertising. Then Crossroads can sell the gift cards/certificates at face value. Individuals buy the SCRIP gift cards/certificates, then spend them at the retailer, where it's worth the full face value. The great thing is that those who buy these gift cards/certificates haven't spent any extra time or money to help Crossroads Church. After all, people need to buy groceries, gasoline, etc., anyway. The church, however, gets to pocket the difference between what we buy the gift cards/certificates for and the selling face value price. This funding goes directly toward our ministry.

For example: If you bought a $10.00 Papa John's certificate from Crossroads Church, the church would pocket 30 percent of that $10 certificate ($3.00). You do nothing other than what you were going to do anyway, that is, go to a restaurant and eat. The only difference is that you pay for your meal using a certificate bought at the church. It's that simple! It does work and there is NO catch!! It's free money waiting to be used for ministry.
